Eaton 93PS alarm indicators and door LEDs

An Eaton 93PS shows its state in two places: four status symbols under the display and two rows of coloured LEDs on the cabinet door, which always show the most urgent condition. A red alarm symbol means an active alarm needing immediate attention. Open Logs for the active events, record them, and call a service representative if red is lit or green is out.

0:00 What does an Eaton 93PS alarm mean? What does an Eaton 93PS alarm mean? A 93PS shows its state in two places: four status symbols under the display, and two rows of coloured lights on the cabinet door that always show the most urgent condition.

0:14 Where do you read the message? Where do you read the message? When the UPS leaves double conversion, it reports why with horns, lights, messages, or all three. The message appears in the status bar and is written to the Active Events log, and you select Logs on the home screen to read it. Record the message and the time before anyone resets anything.

0:33 What do the symbols mean? What do the symbols mean? Green is normal operation: the load is supplied by the UPS. Yellow battery is battery mode, and green stays lit, because battery mode is a normal condition.

0:45 What do bypass, red and the door lights mean? Yellow bypass means the load is on the bypass source, and green goes out. Red is an active alarm requiring immediate attention, with the highest priority alarms on the screen and the horn sounding. Pressing any control panel button once silences the horn; it does not remove the alarm.

1:03 What about the door lights? What about the door lights? The 93PS adds two rows of red, green and yellow lights on the left and right sides of the cabinet door. Only one colour shows at a time, and it is always the most urgent condition, so they are a quick check from across the room. Green lights blinking with the yellow battery symbol lit means the UPS is in battery mode.

1:24 When do you call? When do you call? When the red status symbol or the red door lights are on. When green is out with utility present. For unrequested bypass operation. And for repeated battery mode without an outage.

1:36 What can you check safely? What can you check safely? Eaton's guide is explicit: only the daily and monthly maintenance steps can be done by the user. Daily, that means a clear area, unblocked air intakes and exhaust, a room within the specified environment, and a check that green is lit. Eaton allows only authorized, qualified service personnel to replace and maintain the batteries.

1:58 What do the monthly steps add? The monthly steps add a review of the system parameters and, where fitted, the optional air filters. If red is lit or green is not, contact the service representative.

Status symbols under the display

Pressing any control panel button once silences the horn on a 93PS; it does not remove the alarm.

The coloured LEDs on the door

The 93PS adds two rows of red, green and yellow LEDs on the left and right sides of the cabinet door. Only one colour is shown at a time and it is always the most urgent condition, so the door LEDs are a quick way to check the unit from across the room. Green LEDs blinking with the yellow battery symbol lit means the UPS is in battery mode.

Events and the Logs screen

When the UPS leaves double conversion, it reports why with horns, lights, messages or all three. The message appears in the status bar and is written to the Active Events log; select Logs on the home screen to read it. Record the message and time before anyone resets anything.

What users are allowed to do

Eaton's guide is explicit: only the daily and monthly maintenance steps can be done by the user. Daily, that means a clear area, unblocked air intakes and exhaust, a room within the specified environment, and a check that green is lit; if red is lit or green is not, contact the service representative. Monthly, review the system parameters and, where fitted, the optional air filters.

Eaton reserves battery replacement and maintenance for its qualified service personnel. When a 93PS string reaches end of life, Eaton-compatible replacement batteries can be quoted to the original configuration and installed during a planned visit.

When to call for service

The guide reserves annual preventive maintenance for trained personnel; annual service for Eaton 93PS units covers that visit, and how long three-phase UPS batteries last helps plan the string.

Where are the 93PS alarm messages?

In the status bar and in the Active Events log; select Logs on the home screen.

Can I replace 93PS batteries myself?

No. Eaton's guide keeps battery replacement and maintenance for qualified service personnel.
